5K Clinic Race

The count down is on for the graduation of 79 happy participants of the Comox Vallley Road Runners 5K Running Clinic. The festivities commence on Saturday, March 18 at the Florence Filberg Hall in downtown Courtenay. This race is open to all walkers and runners interested in doing a 5K event that is casual and friendly, a real beginners race! A costume prize for the best rendition of a St Patricks Day theme will be awarded before the race commences. Pace Leprechauns will be in the pack... theyʼre role is to hold a steady speed throughout the race and finish in their stated time. This is often offered in bigger races and serves the purpose of helping folks stay true to the time they wish to finish in. In our case this is a learning tool but can still offer a nice challenge for you to keep going or even finish faster than you thought possible. Many CVRR volunteers will be seeded through out the event ready to help or support at any time.

Whatʼs in it for you? The fun of a sporting event on a lovely Saturday morning with other like minded individuals. A sense of accomplishment for finishing 5 kilometers. Free beverages and food for all participants in the hall and a chance for some great door prizes. All of this for only $10 per person. Registration is 8:30 - 9:00 am in the Rotary Hall on race morning. The early start for Walkers goes at 9:30 am with the main start at 9:45am. Costume judging will be done at 9:15. Cheering is mandatory for all spectators, especially if youʼre related to a racer. Let the luck oʼ the Irish be with you.
