Because we could not find a coordinator, Run4Fun will not happen in 2019. We regret even a temporary loss of any of our programs, but everyone was just too busy this year. We look forward to the return of this popular series in 2020.

Young runners will have a blast again this year at Run4Fun 2018!

Kids between the ages of 7 and 14 will explore seven locations in the Comox Valley on Wednesday evenings commencing April 18th, as they enjoy the Comox Valley Road Runners’ (CVRR) eight-week Run4Fun program. Young runners will increase their endurance and learn to run on varied terrain at locations including Seal Bay Park, the North East Woods, Puntledge Park, and MacDonald Woods. Each week will offer different games and challenges.

Supported by a team of experienced Comox Valley Road Runners, young runners will learn about the importance of a proper warm up, pacing, good nutrition, and injury prevention. Runners do most of their distance running in small groups of similar-pace runners, so regardless of kids’ fitness levels or abilities, everyone will get fresh air and exercise while participating in a supportive and non-competitive environment. Many young runners return year after year, and runners 12 years and older who have participated in the program for at least one year are eligible to become Junior Leaders.

Runners will receive Run4Fun t-shirts and training logs to keep track of how many kilometers they run. Those who log more than 42.2 km (marathon distance) will receive something special on the final week. Every week, runners will enjoy healthy post-run snacks courtesy of Thrifty Foods and Rawthentic Eatery.

The Run4Fun program relies on dedicated CVRR volunteers as well as generous sponsors including Extreme Runners, Jim Smiley RE/MAX Ocean Pacific Realty, Rawthentic Eatery, and Thrifty Foods.
